Title
Resolution approving the 2015 monthly and quarterly solid waste collection charges for multi-unit dwellings with 5 or more units.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes an 8% increase in the 2014 monthly solid waste quarterly collection charges for multiunit dwellings with 5 or more units for 2015, and approves a 2015 fee schedule reflecting this increase. The Commissioner of Public Works has determined, pursuant to the Code of Ordinances that the 2014 fees must be increased by 8% for 2015 to recover 100% of the costs incurred by the City in providing solid waste collection services for multi-unit dwellings with 5 or more units.
Body
Whereas, Section 79-2-1-b of the Code of Ordinances directs the Department of Public Works to charge a fee to the owners of multiunit dwellings with 5 or more units to recover 100% of the cost of solid waste collection services; and
Whereas, This section of the Code stipulates that the amount of the solid waste collection fee shall be determined annually by the Commissioner of Public Works, subject to approval of the Common Council; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works has determined the monthly and quarterly charges required for 100% recovery of the current cost of providing solid waste collection services to multi-unit dwellings with 5 or more units; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the following schedule of 2014 monthly and quarterly charges for collection of solid waste from multi-unit dwellings with 5 or more units is approved:
