Title

Resolution relating to acceptance and expenditure of up to $75,000 in contributions by the Department of Public Works - Administrative Division from an anonymous donor for cleaning and maintenances expenses for the “Mixed Feelings” sculpture.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Administrative Division to accept and expend up to $75,000 in contributions from an anonymous donor for cleaning and maintenance expenses for the sculpture “Mixed Feelings” donated to and installed by the City in 2018. 


Body

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and

 

Whereas, The sculpture “Mixed Feelings”, created by Tony Cragg, was donated anonymously to the City in 2018 (Common Council File Number 171910); and

 

Whereas, The Mixed Feelings sculpture was subsequently installed at the northeast corner of East Wells Street and North Water Street in front of City Hall; and

 

Whereas, An anonymous donor wishes to contribute up to $75,000 to the City for maintenance and cleaning costs for the Mixed Feelings sculpture; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works - Administrative Division is authorized to accept and expend up to $75,000 in contributions from an anonymous donor for cleaning and maintenance expenses for the sculpture “Mixed Feelings”; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon the receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is directed to establish a special purpose account within the Department of Public Works - Administrative Division budget for the expenditure of the contributions; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Contribution Fund-General, account number 0001-2110-0001-D001-006300, and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions, account number 0001-2110-0001-009850 to the Department of Public Works-Administrative Division Special Account 0001-5140-0001-DXXX-006300, and the Department of Public Works-Administrative Division Estimated Revenue account 0001-5140-0001-009850 for the purposes set forth in this resolution in the amount of $75,000.
