Title
An ordinance relating to the fees for certified survey map review and the filing fees charged for the vacation of streets and alleys.

Analysis
This ordinance makes the following changes to the fees charged for the review of certified survey maps and to the filing fees charged for the vacation of streets and alleys:
1. It establishes a $200 fee per certified survey map submitted for review to cover the department of public works' cost of processing each certified survey map.
2. It increases the fee charged for street vacation applications to $1,091 plus $122 for each 100 feet of street length or fraction thereof above 300 feet. The current fee is $750 plus $100 for each 100 feet of street length above 300 feet.
3. It increases the fee charged for alley vacation applications to $716 plus $85 for each 100 feet of alley length or fraction thereof above 300 feet. The current fee is $500 plus $70 for each 100 feet of street length above 300 feet.
In addition, in the case of street and alley vacation applications, the ordinance increases the portion of the application fee paid that is allocated to covering the costs of the department of city development. The portion, currently set at $200, is increased to $266.

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 81-19-3 of the code is created to read:
81-19. Certified Survey Map Filing Fee.
3. In addition to any fees paid pursuant to par. 1 and 2, a fee of $200 shall be paid for each certified survey map filed, regardless of the number of parcels. This fee is intended to cover the cost of map review by the department of public works.
Part 2. Section 81-116-1-a and b of the code is amended to read:
81-116. Street and Alley Vacation Fees.
1. REQUIRED FEES. Street and alley vacations shall be subject to the following fees:
a. The fee for filing a preliminary application for vacation of a street shall be $[[750]] >>1,091<< plus $[[100]] >>122<< for each 100 feet of street length or fraction thereof above 300 feet. Of this fee, $[[200]] >>266<< is intended to cover the department of city development's costs for administering the vacation procedure, while the remainder is intended to cover the costs incurred by the department of public works in preparing a map, legal description and coordinated report for the proposed vacation pursuant to s. 308-28-4.
b. The fee for filing a preliminary application for vacation of an alley shall be $[[500]] >>716<< plus $[[70]] >>85<< for each 100 feet of alley length or fraction thereof above 300 feet. Of this fee, $[[200]] >>266<< is intended to cover the department of city development's costs for administering the vacation procedure, while the remainder is intended to cover the costs incurred by the department of public works in preparing a map, legal description and coordinated report for the proposed vacation pursuant to s. 308-28-4.
