Title
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Funding Assistance Program grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for, accept and fund a Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Funding Assistance Program grant (formerly known as Act 102) from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services in the amount of $70,062.42, with the grantor share of $70,062.42. The purpose of the project is to enhance the provision of emergency medical services. This is a continuing grant that currently funds purchases of ambulance vehicles and vehicle equipment, emergency medical service supplies and equipment, and training.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Funding Assistance Program grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from July 1, 2012 to March 15, 2013 would cost $70,062.42, funded entirely by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant changes as indicated in section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1.     Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2012 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled Wisconsin EMS Funding Assistance Program:

2.     Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these project/grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;
 
3.     Establish the necessary City Share Project values; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Fire Department which is authorized to:
1.      Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2.      Expend from the 2012 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;
3.      Expend from the 2012 grant budget funds for training by department staff.
