TITL:
Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a permit to the C. G. Schmidt construction Company for temporary occupancy of West Madison Street between South 3rd and South 4th Streets in conjunction with construction of a new parking structure for the Allen-Bradley Company. (DPW)
ANLS:
- ANALYSIS - This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a permit to a construction contractor for temporary use of West Madison Street between South 3rd and South 4th Streets. The contractor would use this entire street segment in conjunction with construction of a new parking structure for the Allen-Bradley Company. The street would be closed from October 20, 1997 until approximately mid August, 1998.

BODY:
Whereas, The Allen-Bradley Company plans to construct a new parking structure, thereby allowing the company to consolidate some of its existing parking facilities and also allowing it to accommodate expected increases in employment; and

Whereas, The new parking structure will be located on the south side of West Madison Street between South 3rd and South 4th Streets and will be constructed by the C. G. Schmidt Company; and

Whereas, The new structure will consume almost the entire site leaving little on-site space for materials storage and construction staging activities; and

Whereas, West Madison Street between South 3rd and South 4th Streets would be a convenient location for construction-related activity; and

Whereas, This street segment is relatively little-used, much of its vehicular use being related to Allen-Bradley itself; and

Whereas, Allen-Bradley is the owner of all property abutting this street segment; and

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to issue permits for temporary occupancy of up to one-third of public streets while temporary use beyond that must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to issue a permit to the C.G. Schmidt Company allowing the company to occupy the West Madison Street public right-of-way between South 3rd and South 4th Streets from October 20, 1997 until mid August 1998.
