Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant. (Police Department)
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes application, acceptance and expenditure of a fourth Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice, Office of Justice Assistance. Common Council file #981631 granted the original Police Department authority to apply for the grant.
Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice, Office of Justice Assistance for a fourth Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant; and
Whereas, A resolution providing authority to apply for a Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant was approved in Common Council File 981631; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 06/01/2002 to 06/30/2003 would cost $907,797 of which $90,780 (10%) would be provided by the city and $817,017 (90%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2002 Special Revenue- Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the program titled: "Juvenile Accountability Block Grant #4":

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels: budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement; and
3. Establish the necessary City Share Project Values; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department
which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the
grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2002 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment.
