Title

Resolution implementing a footnote to the 2006 budget relating to capital funding of a job-training program.

Analysis

This resolution approves the following conditions relating to expenditure of $147,500 in capital borrowing authority (allocated to 3 different Department of Public Works accounts) included in the 2006 city budget to fund a job-training program in specific skilled trades for Milwaukee residents:

 

1.  The Department of Administration shall administer expenditure of the additional funds in each of these capital accounts for a job-training program.

 

2.  Training under this job-training program shall be on-the-job or directly related to City capital projects. 

 

3.  The Department of Administration shall provide a report to the Common Council on the status of the job-training program by October 1, 2006.

 

These conditions are specified in a footnote to the 2006 budget.

Whereas, The 2006 city budget includes $147,500 in borrowing authority in the following Department of Public Works capital improvement accounts to fund a job-training program related to current City capital projects in specific skilled trades for Milwaukee residents:

 

                     Expansion of Capacity Sewer Program at Various Locations (City-Wide)                     $52,500

 

                     Street Improvements-Street Lighting                                                                                                                              $45,000

 

                     Environmental Remediation Program                                                                                                                              $50,000

 

; and

 

Whereas, The 2006 budget also includes a footnote for these 3 capital-borrowing line items specifying certain administrative and reporting requirements for the job-training program; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the following conditions relating to expenditure of the $147,500 in capital borrowing in the 3 above-specified Department of Public Works capital improvement accounts for a job-training program:

 

1.  The Department of Administration shall administer expenditure of the additional funds in each of these capital accounts for a job-training program.

 

2.  Training under this job-training program shall be on-the-job or directly related to City capital projects. 

 

3.  The Department of Administration shall provide a report to the Common Council on the status of the job-training program by October 1, 2006.
