Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works and the Comptroller to amend the agreement previously authorized by Common Council File Number 061406, which authorized the Commissioner of Public Works and the Comptroller to enter into a funding agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for installation of permanent street lighting in conjunction with the paving of North 76th Street from West Florist Avenue to West Clinton Avenue in the 2nd and 9th Aldermanic Districts.  Due to the increased costs of aluminum and copper materials, as well as additional work requested by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the estimated costs for this lighting portion have increased $51,137.48 or 34.18 percent to $200,751.05, total project remains at $105,000 City share and $37,677,000 grantor share.

 

Body

Whereas, The Common Council has previously approved File Number 061406, which authorized the Commissioner of Public Works and the Comptroller to enter into a funding agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for installation of permanent street lighting in conjunction with the paving of North 76th Street from West Florist Avenue to West Clinton Avenue; and

 

Whereas, Costs for materials used for construction of this project which contain aluminum or copper have significantly increased; and

 

Whereas, WISDOT has requested additional alteration of City street light facilities on North 76th Street at West Villard Avenue, West Fond du Lac Avenue and West Silver Spring Drive; and

 

Whereas, The revised estimated cost is $$200,751.05, an increase of $51,137.48 or 34.18% over the original estimated cost of $149,613.57 for the installation of permanent street lighting; and

 

Whereas, One hundred percent of the participating project cost, or $200,751.05, is reimbursable from WISDOT; and

 

Whereas, The increased costs for this project are greater than ten percent over the amount preciously authorized, which requires further approval by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works and Comptroller are authorized to amend the funding agreement with WISDOT for the for installation of permanent street lighting in conjunction with the improvements to North 76th Street from West Florist Avenue to West Clinton Avenue based on a predetermined estimate prepared under the Federal/State aided highway program, a copy of which is attached to this resolution, and is incorporated into this resolution as though set forth in full; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon approval of this contract, that the Commissioner of Public Works is directed to install and modify permanent street lighting facilities in conjunction with the paving of North 76th Street from West Florist Avenue to West Clinton Avenue; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon approval of this contract, the City Comptroller is hereby authorized to transfer to these accounts the additional amount required under the agreement and City accounting policy, but not to exceed a ten percent increase of the total amounts reserved for the grantor’s share and local share or $5,000, whichever is greater as follows:
