Title

Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Childhood Immunization Disparities Grant from the Centers for Disease Control.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Childhood Immunization Disparities Grant project from the Centers for Disease Control in the amount of $300,000 to reduce immunization disparities and increase immunization rates.                       

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Centers for Disease Control to reduce immunization disparities and increase immunization rates; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 09/30/07 to 09/29/08 would cost $300,000 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Centers for Disease Control is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Childhood Immunization Disparities Grant:

2.  Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.  Expend from the 2007 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff; 

 

3.  Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2007 Positions Ordinance C.C. File Number 060494, should be amended as follows:

Change footnote (YY) to read as follows:

 

To expire 09/29/08 unless the Childhood Immunization Disparities Grant is extended.
