Title:         

Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of an Advanced Training Grant.

 

Analysis:     

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund an Advanced Training Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, in the amount of $23,000, with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $23,000. The purpose of this project is to provide advanced training to members of the Milwaukee Police Department.

 

Body:        

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, for an Advanced Training Grant, and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 07/01/07 to 06/30/08 would cost $23,000, of which $0 would be provided by the city and $23,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Justice is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 030712; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the Advanced Training Grant:

2.  Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

 

1.    Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.   Transfer funds within the project budget as long as the amount expended for each specific purpose does not exceed the amount authorized by the budget by 10 percent.
