This resolution authorizes the City Clerk to expend up to $105,372 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose account for various events and initiatives in 2025.
Body
Whereas, The 2025 Adopted Budget provided $70,000 to the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account; and
Wheras, Carryover funds totaling $35,372.60 are available from the 2024 Adopted Budget; and
Whereas, The purpose of the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account is to provide resources to support community events that promote peace and violence prevention, with the intention that allocations from the SPA will be matched by contributions from local organizations; and
Whereas, The events and initiatives receiving allocations of funding under this resolution all provide opportunities for the City to support the promotion of peace and the prevention of violence, in alignment with the intended purpose of the MKE Community Excellence Fund; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk is directed to expend up to $105,372 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account (0001 1310 S246 006300) in the following amounts for payment or reimbursement of expenses related to 2025 events:
Entrepreneurial Business Summit Up to $1,500
Black History Month Up to $5,000
Power Hour Up to $4,000
Girls' Day at City Hall Up to $10,000
Bronzeville Week Up to $25,000
Second Aldermanic District Back-to-School Festival Up to $15,000
Hispanic Heritage Month Up to $14,872
Silver City InterNational Festival Up to $10,000
"Pot of Gold Reflection of You" Event Up to $2,500
Ninth District Business Conference Up to $2,500
Hip Hop Week Up to $15,000
; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the amount paid or reimbursed from the MKE Community Excellence Fund for each event shall be matched by contributions from local organizations for that event.
