Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2020 from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for the Birthing M.O.M.S. (Moms Offering Moms Support) Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the 2020 Birthing M.O.M.S. (Moms Offering Moms Support) Grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation in the amount of $25,000 provided by the grantor with no city match. The purpose of the grant is to provide mothers with free, lead safe kits prior to hospital discharge containing educational materials, cleaning supplies, a water filter pitcher and a 1-year supply of refills.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for the 2020 Birthing M.O.M.S. (Moms Offering Moms Support) Grant to provide mothers with free, lead safe kits prior to hospital discharge; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/20 to 12/31/20 would cost $25,000 provided by grantor with no city match and; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2020 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled 2020 Birthing M.O.M.S. (Moms Offering Moms Support) Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2020 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;
3. Expend from the 2020 grant budget funds for consulting services;
