Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Speed Enforcement Project (SPEEDWAVES) Grant. (Police Department)
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Speed Enforcement Project Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, in the amount of $11,007 with a city share of $3,007 and a grantor share of $8,000. The purpose of the project is to decrease the number of speed related crashes in the target area.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, for a Speed enforcement Program , and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 4/10/2000 to 9/30/2000 would cost $11,007 of which $3,007 (27%) would be provided by the city and $8,000 (73%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety is authorized and that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 940843; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
 
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2000 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: "Speed Enforcement Program Grant":

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;
 
3. Establish the necessary City Share Project Values; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:
 
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
 
2. Transfer funds within the project budget as long as the amount expended for each specific purpose does not exceed the amount authorized by the budget by 10 percent; and
 
3. Expend from the 2000 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment.
