Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to install fiber-optic cable and provide network connectivity at or near 2601 West Clybourn Avenue for the use and benefit, and at the sole expense of the Marquette University.

Body

Whereas, Marquette University’s educational mission will be served by installing fiber-optic cable and providing network connectivity at or near 2601 West Clybourn Avenue; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee seeks to support and promote higher education and enhance educational resources in the City; and

Whereas, Marquette University has requested fiber-optic cabling and network connectivity between the school’s Facilities Services offices at 2601 West Clybourn Avenue and “Cudahy Hall” on campus; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has the knowhow and resources to provide Marquette University with fiber-optic cabling and network connectivity to serve its Facilities Services office and “Cudahy Hall” on campus; and

Whereas, It is in the best interests of the City to facilitate network connectivity for Marquette University; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works will expend funds to complete this project with all costs billed directly to Marquette University, and all costs for providing fiber-optic cabling and network connectivity services to Marquette University will be borne in full by the university; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is authorized and directed to install fiber-optic cable and to provide network connectivity for the use and benefit, and at the sole expense, of Marquette University at or near 2601 West Clybourn Avenue.
