This substitute resolution will approve the award of a contract for emergency work caused by the collapse of a combined sewer in West Juneau Avenue from North 37th Street to North 38th Street.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, During an intense rain on June 21, 1997, a section of an 120-inch diameter combined sewer collapsed resulting in severe damage to the sewer, water main and pavement in West Juneau Avenue between North 37th Street and North 38th Street; and
 
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works directed Super Excavators, Inc. to undertake emergency work to protect the adjacent properties and to make the necessary repairs; and
 
Whereas, There is a potential that some State and/or Federal Disaster Damage Aid may be available to offset a portion of the cost of said emergency work; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the directive by the Commis- sioner of Public Works to Super Excavators, Inc. to undertake emergency work to protect the adjacent properties and make necessary repairs in West Juneau Avenue from North 37th Street to North 38th Street is approved; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the cost of this emergency work shall be charged to the following accounts:
 
Nonassessable Relief and Relay
 
Sewer Fund 31-171-0001 $1,500,000
 
Nonassessable Water Main
 
Fund 42-101-1001 100,000
 
;and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital purpose subaccounts; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That all Departments and Agencies are authorized and directed to assist said Commissioner of Public Works in petitioning and seeking State and/or Federal Emergency Funds and/or Aids, and if granted, the proper city officials are authorized and directed to accept the same, to establish the appropriate fund accounts and to take the necessary actions to offset the City's expenditures.
