Title:
Resolution authorizing acceptance and funding of a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force grant from the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the amount of $34,748.50 with a city share of $-0- and a grantor share of $34,748.50. The purpose of this grant is to fund overtime expenses for two officers assigned to the DEA Task Force whose purpose is to disrupt the trafficking of illicit drugs in the Milwaukee metropolitan area, gather and report intelligence data relating to this trafficking and to conduct undercover operations and other methods of investigation in order that the Task Force's activities will result in effective prosecution before the courts of the United States and the State of Wisconsin.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force grant from the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA); and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 09/30/14 to 9/29/15 would cost $34,748.50, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept this grant without further approval unless its terms change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
- Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2014 Special Revenue-Grant
and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled: DEA Task Force:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the project budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
