Substitute resolution indicating City support for the construction of noise barriers along the east side of the Lake Parkway in the City of Milwaukee for which no local cost participation is required.

This resolution indicates City support for the construction of noise barriers along the east side of the Lake Parkway at 3 separate locations in the City of Milwaukee for which no local cost participation is required.
BODY:
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) conducted a study of sites along the Lake Parkway and identified, on the basis of applicable noise level standards, 3 sites along the east side of the Lake Parkway where traffic noise levels at properties located adjacent to the Parkway could be reduced with the construction of noise barriers; and
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 971876 supported the concept of noise barrier construction along the Lake Parkway and authorized and directed the City Engineer to request that the WISDOT proceed with the public information process for such construction; and
Whereas, The WISDOT has held a public informational meeting to solicit comments on the construction of the Lake Parkway noise barriers and there was favorable support for all 3 noise barrier locations; and
Whereas, The City desires that the WISDOT proceed with the Lake Parkway noise barrier projects at the following locations along the east side of the lake Parkway:
- Location No. 1: East Ohio Street to a point south of East Morgan Avenue.
- Location No. 2: East Euclid Avenue to East Fernwood Avenue.
- Location No. 3: East Oklahoma Avenue to a point north of East Rusk Avenue.
; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City supports the WISDOT construction of noise barriers at no cost to the City along the east side of the Lake Parkway at the aforementioned locations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City's support is contingent upon the WISDOT providing noise barriers which are consistent in color and vertical ribbed pattern currently installed along the Lake Parkway.
