An ordinance to further amend the 2001 rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service under control of the Common Council.

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 2 of ordinance File Number 000507 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows (Effective Pay Period 1, 2001 - December 24, 2000):
Delete the current rates of pay for Salary Grades 001 to 020 and footnotes listed below and substitute the follow rates:

Part 8. Section 3 of ordinance File Number 000507 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby further amended as follows (Effective Pay Period 13, 2001 – June 10, 2001):
Under Pay Range 215, add the footnote designation "8/" following the title "Custodial Worker II-City Laborer" as follows: "8/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, one position employed in the Milwaukee Public Library and permanently assigned to the dock shall be eligible for an additional sixth step of $1,242.59 biweekly."
Under Pay Range 258, add the footnote designation "3/" following the title "Special Equipment Operator" as follows: "3/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, an employe while assigned as the utility person shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour."
Under Pay Range 265, add the title "Sewer Repair Crew Leader."
Under Pay Range 270, add the footnote designation "1/" following the title "Field Service Mechanic" as follows: "1/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, employes who shall be eligible for a special sixth step of $1,602.23 biweekly if one of the following criteria is met:
1. Employes who were appointed to the Field Service Mechanic classification prior to June 1, 1989; or
2. Employes who obtain and maintain at all times Master Automobile Technician ASE certification and have completed one year of service at the fifth step; or
3. Employes who obtain and maintain at all times Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician ASE certification and have completed one year of service at the fifth step; or
4. Employes who obtain and maintain at all times ASE certification in four (4) Medium/Heavy Truck areas, including Diesel Engines and Brakes and four automobile areas, including Engine Performance and Brakes and who have completed one year of service at the fifth step."

Delete footnote "2/" in its entirety and recreate it as follows: "2/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, the additional forty ($40) dollars biweekly received by employes in this classification while assigned as the "Resident (Lead) Inspector" to a state funded project for any time during a pay period shall be increased to eighty ($80) dollars biweekly."
Under Pay Range 540, add the title "Inspection Specialist 4/" and add the footnote designation "8/" following the title "Public Works Inspector II." Delete footnotes "4/", "5/" and "7/" in their entirety and recreate and add the following footnotes:
"4/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, employes in these classifications shall be eligible for the following three additional M-steps, provided that the following criteria is met:
M-Step Criteria needed
M-Step 1: $1,626.93 30 credits only or 8 years of
service and 15 credits
M-Step 2: $1,675.74 45 credits only or 10 years of

"5/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, employes in the Public Works Inspector II classification as of Pay Period 17, 1990, and who are currently at the first "M-Step" of the Public Works Inspector II pay range, shall advance to M-Step 2 at the rate of $1,675.74 biweekly."
"7/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, the additional forty ($40) dollars biweekly received by employes in this classification while assigned as the "Resident (Lead) Inspector" to a state funded project for any time during a pay period shall be increased to eighty ($80) dollars biweekly."
"8/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, a "Public Works Inspector II" in the Infrastructure Division, who is trained and capable of performing all the duties of a "Water Construction Coordinator" and who is assigned to perform the full range duties of a "Water Construction Coordinator" for time in excess of eight hours during a pay period shall receive an additional forty ($40) dollars biweekly during that pay period. When such inspector is assigned for at least 8 hours on both the last and first work days of consecutive pay periods, he or she shall receive an additional forty ($40) dollars biweekly for one pay period. A "Public Works Inspector II" shall not be entitled to more than one forty ($40) dollar payment per pay period."
Under Pay Range 555, add the footnote designation "3/" following the title "Municipal Court Clerk II" and add the following footnote: "3/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, employes in the Municipal Court shall be eligible to receive an additional $0.50 per hour while performing interpreter duties for court proceedings from Spanish to English and vice versa.
Under Pay Range 557, add the footnote designation "1/" following the title "Librarian III" and add the following footnote: "1/ Effective Pay Period 13, 2001, recruitment may be up to the third step."
Part 11. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Part 12. The provisions of Parts 1 through 7 of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after Pay Period 1, 2001 (December 24, 2000).
The provisions of Parts 8 through 10 of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after Pay Period 13, 2001 (June 10, 2001).
Part 13. This ordinance will take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
