This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide reimbursement of actual costs for services and items provided by the City as traffic mitigation measures in conjunction with the resurfacing of IH 94 (East-West Freeway) in 1998.

BODY:

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) will undertake the resurfacing and rehabilitation of IH-94 (East-West Freeway) in 1998; and

 

Whereas, Preliminary approval has been received from the WISDOT, along with a project agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, to provide reimbursement of actual costs for services and items provided by the City as local street traffic impact mitigation measures in conjunction with the repair and rehabilitation of the East-West Freeway; and

 

Whereas, The total estimated cost of the local street traffic impact mitigation measures for the 1998 stage of the East-West Freeway resurfacing and rehabilitation project is $160,000, including $90,000 for the engineering, design and installation of traffic flow and operational improvements by the Department of Public Works, $63,000 for additional patrols and traffic enforcement by the Milwaukee Police Department, and $7,000 for additional school crossing guards and pedestrian safety improvements by the Milwaukee Safety Commission; now, therefore, be it

 

 Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute the project agreement to provide reimbursement of the actual cost for services and items provided by the City as local street traffic mitigation measures in conjunction with the 1998 stage of the repair and rehabilitation of the East-West Freeway, a copy of which is attached to this File Number 971579 and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to create within the Capital Grant and Aids Project Fund the appropriate sub-account for the projects (Expenditure & Revenue), and transfer to any of these accounts the amount required under the agreement and City Accounting Policy but not to exceed a 10 percent increase of the total amounts reserved or $5,000, whichever is greater, in the amount set aside as follows:
