Title
Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a Request for Proposals and award a contract for the replacement of the Water Works' present computerized maintenance management system.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the issuance of a Request for Proposal and execution of a contract for an upgrade of the Water Works' present computerized maintenance management system used in the Water Purification Plants. The contract will be awarded to the vendor that best meets the needs of the Water Works as specified and determined by the Commissioner of Public Works.
Body
Whereas, The Water Works uses a computerized maintenance management system to manage and maintain the equipment and facilities at the water treatment plants and to administer preventive maintenance and track demand maintenance for these equipment and facilities; and
Whereas, The functionality of the present system is limiting its effectiveness and support costs are escalating, upgrade of the system is needed; and
Whereas, The Common Council, through the approval of the 2003 Water Works Budget, provided funding for this computerized maintenance management system; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue a Request for Proposals for a upgrade of the Water Works' present computerized maintenance management system and, upon selection of the vendor best meeting the needs of the Water Works, to issue a contract for a computerized maintenance management system; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the cost of the system be charged to the appropriate Water Works account.
