Resolution approving the Land Disposition Report for the properties in the North 7th Street/West Wisconsin Avenue Redevelopment Project Area for conveyance to the Partnership to Develop Westown, Inc. and approving the exchange of a portion of the City-owned property at 755 North 7th Street for a portion of the Redevelopment Authority-owned property at 725-35 North 7th Street, in the 4th Aldermanic District (Redevelopment Authority).

This resolution will permit the Redevelopment Authority to convey said land according to the conditions referred to in the Land Disposition Report and will declare surplus a small portion of the City-owned property at 755 North 7th Street in connection with the development of the Library Hill Apartments.

BODY:

Whereas, In Common Council File No. 951496, adopted on February 13, 1996, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee approved the Westown Housing Development Agreement by and among the City of Milwaukee ("City"), the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee ("Authority") and the Milwaukee Redevelopment Corporation ("MRC"); and

 

Whereas, The Authority is about to complete acquisition of the properties in the North 7th Street/West Wisconsin Avenue Redevelopment Project Area and is preparing to convey the properties to a corporation created by MRC to develop the Library Hill Apartments; and

 

Whereas, On June 19, 1997, the Authority held a Public Hearing regarding the proposed conveyance as required by Wisconsin Statutes; and

 

Whereas, Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes and as a condition precedent to the sale, lease or transfer of land, the Authority submits herewith a Land Disposition Report describing the terms and conditions of the proposed conveyance; and

 

Whereas, MRC has proposed that a portion of the City- owned Fire Administration property at 755 North 7th Street be exchanged with a portion of the Authority- owned property at 725-35 North 7th Street; and

 

Whereas, The Fire Chief of the City of Milwaukee has agreed to the proposed land exchange with the Authority and MRC; and

 

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that the portion of the City-owned property at 755 North 7th Street has no possible municipal use and is surplus to the City's needs; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Land Disposition Report dated June 19, 1997, with respect to the proposed conveyance of the following properties is approved:

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized and directed to execute a Warranty Deed and any documents necessary to transfer title of the surplus portion of the City-owned property at 755 North 7th Street to the Partnership to Develop Westown, Inc. without monetary consideration; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City is authorized and directed to accept title to a portion of the property at 725-35 North 7th Street from the Authority.
