Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $15,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund to the Historic Granville Commercial District Enhancement Project.
Analysis
The Historic Granville Commercial District Enhancement Project proposes the installation of signage and other streetscape amenities in the Granville commercial area bordered by West Mill Road to West County Line Road and North 68th Street to North 124th Street.
Body
Whereas, The 2002 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee ("City") contains $15,000 in the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund; and
 
Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhood commercial districts; and
 
Whereas, The Historic Granville Corporation has consistently invested time and resources into the improvement of the Historic Granville commercial neighborhood district and is now proposing the installation of signs and other street amenities on North 68th Street to North 124th Street between West Mill Road and West County Line Road; and
 
Whereas, These public way improvements will greatly enhance the Historic Granville neighborhood investments already in place; and
 
Whereas, Private funds will equal or exceed the amount of City funds for this project; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer up to $15,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund to Project Account No. STO4082900; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, is authorized and directed to establish any and all subaccounts and follow the City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That all City officials, departments, boards and commissions are authorized and directed to assist and cooperate with said project.
