Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Election Commission to expend additional funds for various expenses associated with unscheduled elections in 2003. The Election Commission would be authorized to expend an additional $310,973 for remaining elections and election services in 2003.
Body
Whereas, Common Council File 980965 established procedural guidelines related to the expenditure of funds to be reimbursed by greater than anticipated revenues; and
Whereas, The Election Commission has administered and funded unanticipated recall elections for Milwaukee County and the State of Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Milwaukee County has reimbursed the City $108,148.09 for this service; and
Whereas, The Election Commission deposited a check of $7,722.61 from Boise Office Solutions into the general fund for merchandise originally purchased by the Election Commission and returned by the Election Commission; and
Whereas, Milwaukee County will reimburse the City an additional $195,103; and
Whereas, The Comptroller has certified greater than anticipated revenue in the amount of $310,973, pursuant to s. 304-91; and
Pursuant to s. 304-91, I hereby certify that the money required for this is anticipated to be realized on or before 12/31/03 and to be expended only for the purpose in this resolution.

Resolved, That $102,945 is appropriated to the Election Commission's salary expenditures account #0001-1700-R999-006000; and $208,028 is appropriated to the Election Commission's operating expenditures account #0001-1700-R999-006300; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Election Commission is authorized to expend $102,945 in their salary expenditure account 0001-1700-R999-006000 and $208,028 in their operating expenditure account 0001-1700-R999-006300 for expenses associated with administering elections; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller be, and hereby is, authorized and directed to establish the necessary accounts and accounting procedures to carry out the intent of this resolution.
