Substitute resolution appropriating monies from the Parking Fund for improvements to the City-owned parking lot located at North 49th Street and West North Avenue.

This resolution appropriates $80,000 from the 1998 Permanent Improvement Reserve Fund-Parking for various improvements to the City-owned parking lot at North 49th Street and West North Avenue, including new curbs, ornamental fencing, walkways, landscaping and paving. It further authorizes and directs the City Comptroller to make the appropriate fund transfers for this project and authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to expend the appropriated funds on the specified improvements.
BODY:
Whereas, The City-owned parking lot located at North 49th Street and West North Avenue is located in Business Improvement District No. 16 (West North Avenue); and
Whereas, The unattractive appearance and somewhat deteriorated condition of this parking lot hampers the efforts of the City and of merchants and property owners in the Business Improvement District to improve the appearance and economic vitality of the West North Avenue commercial district; and
Whereas, One of the potential uses of revenues deposited in the City's Parking Fund is capital improvements to City-owned parking structures and surface parking lots; and
Whereas, The estimated cost of improvements to the parking lot at 49th and North, including new curbs, ornamental fencing, walkways, landscaping and paving, as shown on Exhibit A, is $79,300; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $80,000 is appropriated from the 1998 Permanent Improvement Reserve Fund-Parking (account number 45-661-2700) for improvements to the City-owned parking lot at North 49th Street and West North Avenue; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer the appropriated funds to the appropriate account(s) in the Department of Public Works budget; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to expend the appropriated funds on the improvements to the 49th and North parking lot specified in Exhibit A.
