Resolution implementing a footnote to the 2018 Budget relating to the duties of Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors.
Analysis
This resolution implements a footnote to the 2018 Budget by directing the Department of Neighborhood Services to augment the duties of Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors to include monitoring and reporting infrastructure deficiencies, street lighting malfunctions, uncollected garbage and litter, unshovelled snow, standing water or sewage and similar conditions that threaten the health, safety and quality of life in a neighborhood surrounding an inspected property.
It further directs the Department of Neighborhood Services to take whatever action appropriate to remediate conditions reported by residential code enforcement inspectors that threaten the health, safety and quality of life in a neighborhood surrounding an inspected property.
Body
Whereas, Infrastructure deficiencies, street lighting malfunctions, uncollected garbage and litter, unshovelled snow, standing water or sewage and similar conditions threaten the health, safety and quality of life in a neighborhood; and
Whereas, Department of Neighborhood Services Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors are regularly in a position to note and report conditions that threaten the health, safety and quality of life in neighborhoods that surround properties they inspect; and
Whereas, A footnote in the 2018 Budget provides that the duties of Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors be expanded to include monitoring and reporting infrastructure deficiencies, street lighting malfunctions, uncollected garbage and litter, unshovelled snow, standing water or sewage and similar conditions that threaten the health, safety and quality of life in a neighborhood surrounding an inspected property; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Neighborhood Services is directed to augment the duties of Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors to include monitoring health, safety and quality of life conditions in the neighborhood surrounding inspected properties; and, be it
Further Resolved, That Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors shall take note of and report infrastructure deficiencies, street lighting malfunctions, uncollected garbage and litter, unshovelled snow, standing water or sewage and similar conditions that threaten the health, safety and quality of life in a neighborhood surrounding an inspected property; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Department of Neighborhood Services shall take whatever action appropriate to remediate conditions reported by Residential Code Enforcement Inspectors that threaten the health, safety and quality of life in a neighborhood surrounding an inspected property.
