Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Early Childhood MPS Daycare Grant. (Health Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Early Childhood MPS Daycare Grant from the Milwaukee Public Schools in the amount of $75,000. The purpose of the program is to create a daycare program to assure optimal health and school readiness of children ages 0 to 4.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Milwaukee Public Schools for creation of a daycare program to assure optimal health and school readiness of children ages 0 to 4; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 03/01/02 to 10/31/02 would cost $75,000 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Milwaukee Public Schools is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2002 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the program titled Early Childhood MPS Daycare Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2002 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 010468, should be amended as follows:

Add footnote (II) to read:
To expire 10/31/02 unless the Early Childhood MPS Daycare Grant is extended. Also funds .25 FTE of a Public Health Nurse Supervisor position and .3 FTE on a Public Health Nurse.
