Substitute ordinance to further amend the 1997 rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service under control of the Common Council.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 1 of ordinance File Number 961001 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:
Under Pay Range 047, delete the title "Chairman, Board of Zoning Appeals 1/" and add the title "Administrative Officer, Board of Zoning Appeals 1/."
Part 2. Section 2 of ordinance File Number 961001 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:
Under Salary Grade 002, delete the title "Legal Assistant" and substitute in lieu thereof the title "Paralegal."
Under Salary Grade 006, add the title "Pension Investment Analyst."
Under Salary Grade 008, delete the title "Automation Services Administrator."
Under Salary Grade 009, add the title "Court Systems Administrator."
Part 3. Section 3 of ordinance File Number 961001 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:
Under Pay Range 270, add the title "Automotive Services Specialist."
Part 4. Section 8 of ordinance File Number 961001 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:
Under Pay Range 515, after the title "Computer Programmer I", add a footnote designation "2/" to read:
"2/ Effective 4/7/97, one position of "Computer Programmer I" filled by Jason Stenglein, to be paid at a rate of $1,022 biweekly until the individual is eligible to be advanced to the second step of the grade."
Under Pay Range 526, after the title "Water Chemist I", add a footnote designation "1/" and add footnote "1/" to read: "1/ Effective March 9, 1997, upon attaining a State of Wisconsin certification as a Grade T or 1 Subclass S waterworks operator, the incumbent will advance one step in the pay range. If at the maximum step, the incumbent will advance one step to $1,325.18 biweekly. In order to retain the extra pay step, employees must maintain current state certification as a Grade T or 1 Subclass S waterworks operator."
Under Pay Range 542, after the title "Water Chemist II", add a footnote designation "1/" and add the following footnote "1/" to read: "1/ Effective March 9, 1997, upon attaining a State of Wisconsin certification as a Grade T or 1 Subclass S waterworks operator, the incumbent will advance one step in the pay range. If at the maximum step, the incumbent will advance one step to $1,456.65 biweekly. In order to retain the extra pay step, employees must maintain current state certification as a Grade T or 1 Subclass S waterworks operator."
Part 5. Section 9 of ordinance File Number 961001 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:
Insert a newly created Pay Range 607 as follows:

Part 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Part 7. The provisions of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after the first day of the first pay period following passage and publication.
Part 8. This ordinance will take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
