This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to undertake the second phase of rehabilitation work on the North 35th Street Viaduct with Federal/State aid. The work which consists mostly of structural steel and expansion joint work and painting is eligible for 80% Federal/State aid. The estimated cost of this work is $3,432,000, of which the City's share (20%) is estimated at $686,400. Construction funds will be appropriated in future resolutions.
BODY:
Whereas, A project agreement has been executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) and the City of Milwaukee for preliminary engineering work on the North 35th Street Viaduct Rehabilitation project in accordance with Common Council Resolution File Number 950846; and
Whereas, A project agreement to undertake the Phase II construction work for this project with Federal and/or State aid under the Local Bridge Replacement Program has been received from the WISDOT to be executed by the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, Estimated costs of the construction are as indicated in the project agreement; and
Whereas, Construction funds for the Phase II project will be appropriated in future resolutions; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute the project agreement for the programming and construction of the improvement of the Phase II rehabilitation work on the North 35th Street Viaduct with Federal and/or State Aid under the Local Bridge Replacement Program, a copy of which is attached to Common Council Resolution File Number 980699 and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full.
