Substitute ordinance to further amend the 1997 offices and positions in the City Service under control of the Common Council.

BODY:

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 1 of ordinance File Number 961002 relative to offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:

Under "Health Department, Public Health Services Decision Unit, Breast Cancer Awareness Program - Site Coordination Grant", add one position of "Public Health Nurse (X) and amend footnote "(KK)" as follows: "To expire 9-30-98 unless the Breast Cancer Awareness Program Site Coordination Grant is extended." and under "Lead Poisoning Evaluation Grant", add one position of "Office Assistant II" and amend footnote "(D)" as follows: "To expire 6-30-98 unless the Lead Poisoning Evaluation Grant, available from the University of Wisconsin Department of Preventive Medicine, is extended."

Under "Department of Public Works-Water Works, Plants Decision Unit, Linnwood Laboratory", delete one position of "Water Laboratory Helper" and add one position of "Water Laboratory Technician"; under "Howard Laboratory", delete one position of "Water Laboratory Helper" and add one position of "Water Laboratory Technician"; under "Water Quality Decision Unit", delete one position of "Water Quality Technician" and add one position of "Water Laboratory Technician"; under "Major Maintenance Section", delete one position of "Water Department Laborer"; under "Control Center and Boosters Decision Unit", delete one position of "Booster Station Operator I" and add two positions of "Booster Station Operator."

Part 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Part 3. The provisions of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after the first day of the first pay period following passage and publication.

Part 4. This ordinance will take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
