Title

Substitute resolution determining it necessary to make various nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City engineering cost estimated to be $700,000 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $3,918,000.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes engineering studies on projects which by City Charter are nonassessable.  After design plans and estimates of costs have been prepared, a resolution authorizing construction will be submitted to the Common Council.  The City cost for engineering these projects is estimated to be $700,000 with the total cost estimated to be $3,918,000.

Body

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that it is necessary and in the public interest to do the following described improvements according to City specifications:

 

2nd, 5th & 9th Aldermanic Districts

 

N. 92nd St./N. 91st St. - W. Capitol Dr. to W. Good Hope Rd. (SM493090101): Storm rehabilitation. (Converting grass medians into bioretention facilities). (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Fund -- $30,000 TSS Reduction Fund).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $500,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

10th Aldermanic District

 

W. Burleigh St. - N. 57th St. to N. 58th St. (SM495080072): Relaying sanitary sewer. The total estimated cost for this project is $68,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

11th Aldermanic District

 

Area bounded by W. Wilbur Ave., W. Howard Ave., S. 51st St., and S. 53rd St. (SM495090002): Sanitary sewer exams.  The total estimated cost for this project is $50,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

13th Aldermanic District

 

S. 6th St. - W. Grange Ave. to W. Ramsey Ave. (Ext’d) (SW172080103): County project. Relocating existing sewers. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $50,000)  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $50,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

City Wide

 

Indirect account/Engineering studies throughout the City of Milwaukee. (SM495090001): (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $600,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $600,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

Sanitary Manhole Inspection (SM494090101):  The total estimated cost for this project is $250,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

Sanitary Manhole Rehabilitation (SM494090102): (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Fund -- $15,000 I & I Reduction Fund).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $2,225,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

Various

 

Asphalt overlay of various streets by contract. (ST211090137):  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $170,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

 

Post construction guarantee work on water main projects (WT440095000): Inspection. (Nonassessable Water Fund -- $5,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $5,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2009 construction season.

Further Resolved, That all City Departments are authorized to perform engineering, surveys, plan preparation, and determine an estimated cost thereof; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
