Analysis
This resolution is to approve a lease agreement with Cargill, Incorporated for 3.141 acres of property, known as Parcel A, located at 1835 South Carferry Drive on Port Milwaukee’s South Harbor Tract.
Body
Whereas, On September 27, 2005, the Common Council adopted File Number 050615 authorizing the Board of Harbor Commissioners of the City of Milwaukee to enter into a lease agreement for 4.579 acres of property with Cargill, Incorporated; and
Whereas, On November 24, 2015, the Common Council adopted File Number 151028 approving a second amendment to said lease agreement adding 0.287 acres to create a total of 4.866 acres of property; and
Whereas, Both parties have agreed to split the total acreage among two separate lease agreements; and
Whereas, Use of the property on Parcel A, in general, includes office space, equipment for receiving salt products by vessel and rail, salt handling and bagging equipment, product storage, a truck scale, and product shipment by truck or rail; and
Whereas, Both parties have agreed to enter into a new lease agreement for Parcel A, comprising 3.141 acres of property, at a 5-year term commencing on October 1, 2025; and
Whereas, The lease term shall be extended automatically for four successive periods of five (5) years each unless terminated by either party by written notice at least 360 days prior to expiration of the then-current term; and
Whereas, Cargill, Incorporated has been a long-term tenant in good standing with Port Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The Board of Harbor Commissioners of the City of Milwaukee approved the lease agreement at its meeting on October 16, 2025; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that said Common Council hereby ratifies and approves the lease agreement with Cargill, Incorporated and the City of Milwaukee, by and through its Board of Harbor Commissioners; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the designated officers of said government and said Board are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement to carry out this purpose.
