Title

Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Parents as Teachers Curriculum Grant.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Parents as Teachers Curriculum Grant Project from the Wisconsin Children’s Trust Fund in the amount of $20,090.  The purpose of the project is to provide a comprehensive home visiting curriculum to families and their children for a safe and healthy environment for the children. 

Body:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Children’s Trust Fund to provide a comprehensive home visiting curriculum to families and their children for a safe and healthy environment for the children; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/06 to 06/30/06 would cost $20,090 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Children’s Trust Fund is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Project Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Parents as Teachers Curriculum Grant:

2.  Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and be it

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and

2.  Expend from the 2006 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff.
