Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Emergency Department Asthma Grant. (Health Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Emergency Department Asthma Grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in the amount of $10,000. The purpose of the project is to improve asthma care for children who present in City-wide emergency departments.
 
Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin to improve asthma care for children who present in City-wide emergency departments; and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 10/01/03 to 09/30/04 would cost $10,000 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
 
1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2004 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amount for the project titled Emergency Department Asthma Project:

2.  Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and be it
 
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
 
1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
 
2.  Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget; and
 
3.  Expend from the 2004 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff.
