This resolution authorizes the Common Council - City Clerk’s Office of Workforce Development to accept a gift of booth space at the 90th LULAC National Convention and Exposition on July 10-13, 2019, in Milwaukee.
Body
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
Whereas, The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the United States; and
Whereas, LULAC advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 1,000 LULAC councils nationwide; and
Whereas, LULAC is hosting its 90th National Convention and Exposition July 10-13, 2019, in Milwaukee, WI; and
Whereas, Charter Communications is a sponsor of the LULAC Convention; and
Whereas, LULAC has offered to donate booth space to the City at the Convention on behalf of Charter Communications; and
Whereas, The Common Council - City Clerk’s Office of Workforce Development intends to use the donated booth space to promote DCMKE, the City’s social media employment resource platform, to the thousands of LULAC members, Convention speakers and sponsors, and other guests and Convention attendees; and
Whereas, The approximate value of the offered booth space is $650; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council - City Clerk’s Office of Workforce Development is authorized to accept a gift of booth space valued at $650 at the 90th LULAC National Convention and Exposition July 10-13, 2019, from LULAC on behalf of Charter Communications; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council expresses its sincere appreciation to LULAC and Charter Communications for this generous gift.
