Analysis
This substitute resolution approves the surplus declaration of two City-owned properties and authorizes the sale of said properties and properties owned by the Redevelopment Authority according to the conditions in the Land Disposition Report.
Body
Whereas, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee ("Authority") recently completed the acquisition of three privately owned properties in the 3700 Block of West Vliet Street as part of its blight elimination efforts in the Harley-Davidson Catalytic Project Area; and
 
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") owns two vacant properties in the same block that are suitable for assemblage with the Authority's properties for residential development; and
 
Whereas, West End Development Corporation is proposing to build approximately seven owner-occupied condominium units at this site; and
 
Whereas, On March 18, 2004, the Authority held a Public Hearing on the proposed sale as required by Wisconsin Statutes; and
 
Whereas, Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes and as a condition precedent to the sale, lease or transfer of Authority-owned land, the Authority submits herewith a Land Disposition Report describing the terms and conditions of the proposed sale; and
 
Whereas, The City Plan Commission determined that the City-owned properties at 3701-03 and 3711 West Vliet Street are surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City-owned properties at 3701-03 and 3711 West Vliet Street are declared surplus to municipal needs; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Land Disposition Report dated March 18, 2004, with respect to the proposed sale of the following properties is approved; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, or designee, is authorized to execute all legal documents including the deed of conveyance for the City-owned properties and close the transaction according to the terms of the Land Disposition Report.
