Title
Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a “Library a la Carte” - Homebound Service for Seniors Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to accept and fund a “Library a la Carte” - Homebound Service for Seniors Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in the amount of $61,900 with a city share of $36,900 and a grantor share of $25,000. The purpose of the project is to provide Milwaukee’s homebound senior citizens with access to the Library and its vast resources through a home delivery program.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin for the purpose of providing Milwaukee’s homebound senior citizens with access to the Library and its vast resources through a home delivery program; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/06 to 12/31/06 would cost $61,900 of which $36,900 (60%) would be provided by the city and $25,000 (40%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Public Library shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue--Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled “Library a la Carte” - Homebound Service for Seniors Grant :"

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Level values; budget to these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;
3. Establish the necessary City Share Project values; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for Milwaukee Public Library which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2006 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;
3. Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget.
