Title
Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the Community Safety Data Hub Grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the Community Safety Data Hub Grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation in the amount of $125,000 provided by the grantor. The goal of this project is to reduce violent crimes and violence in urban areas using interagency collaboration and culturally competent proactive strategies that increase protective factors and decrease risk factors.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Community Safety Data Repository Grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation in order to develop a community safety data hub for the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 1/1/14 to 12/31/14 would cost $125,000 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2014 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Funds, the following amount for the project titled Community Safety Data Hub Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2014 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff;
3. Enter into leases and subcontracts as detailed in the grant budget; and
4. Expend from the 2014 grant funds for equipment as deemed necessary for program operation.
