Body
Whereas, The Fifth District Thanksgiving Giveaway assists families in need by providing gift cards for the purchase of food for Thanksgiving; and
Whereas, The Thanksgiving Giveaway has already received commitments of support from Milwaukee Harley-Davidson and other sponsors; and
Whereas, The Thanksgiving Giveaway will be held in November, and residents who register will be able to pick up gift cards while supplies last; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Fifth District Thanksgiving Giveaway is declared to be an official City event; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council-City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept contributions for this purpose; and be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a special account within the Common Council-City Clerk’s budget for the holding of the contributions pending further Council action authorizing their expenditure; and, be it
Further Resolved, That all City departments are directed to assist as necessary to make the Fifth District Thanksgiving Giveaway successful.
