Title
Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of the 2026-27 Epidemiology & Lab Capacity National Wastewater Surveillance System grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept, and fund the ELC-NWSS grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $283,062 with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $283,062. The funding will support the Milwaukee Health Department in testing wastewater for infectious diseases.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to surveil, monitor, and contribute to research on antibiotic-resistant infections; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant program from August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027 will cost $283,062 comprised of $283,062, or 100%, grantor share and $0, or 0%, City share; now, therefore, be it;
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or their designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement for these funds; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2026 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled ELC NWSS 2026-27:
