HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
|
Minutes note: Christina Close applied for a historic site plaque for her property at 830 East Brady Street, a workers' cottage built in the 1880s.
Staff Tim Askin mention that the property has a colorful history, including housing a priest from St. John
the Evangelist Cathedral and serving as a speakeasy in the 1930s.
Recommend approval with Proposed name: Duhig-McGuire House
Staff will work with owner on exact language.
The commission suggested that close work with the local Business Improvement District and Alderman Alex Brower to promote the plaque program to other neighborhood homeowners.
