10/5/20260 HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

Minutes note: Contractor Haley Hall of Modern Exterior presented a proposal for Tom Travia to replace 12 first-floor windows with wood-clad vinyl double-hung windows. Staff Andrew Stern recommended denial, noting that vinyl windows have never been approved by the HPC and that the original wood windows appeared salvageable through weather stripping and waterproofing. Haley Hall argued that the new windows would match existing vinyl windows on the upper floor, which were replaced without a certificate of appropriateness prior to 2009, and provide better efficiency for tenants. The commission maintained its stance against vinyl products, and the motion to deny the proposal was carried.
