10/5/20260 HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

Minutes note: The commission reviewed a request for 35 historic windows and two balcony doors at the Edwin Roane House, a cross-gable residence built in 1901 by Henry Mesmer and Son. Staff Andrew Stern recommended denial because the applicants, Trevor Schrieb, Marie Raynor, and Anthony Ybarra, proposed using white vinyl windows and steel doors, which are not approved materials for the Cold Spring Park Historic District. Trevor Schrieb attended the meeting and agreed with the denial, expressing a desire to restore the building as close to the original as possible and asking for guidance. The commission suggested that staff provide Schrieb with a list of specialized window contractors, specifically mentioning Wade in Milwaukee, to help with the restoration. A motion to deny the request was passed unanimously.
