PURPOSE: To review property owners' objections to property assessments; conduct hearings to hear these objections; and to correct assessment valuations where appropriate.
COMPOSITION: Nine members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Common Council to five-year terms. All members must be city residents and may not hold any public office or be publicly employed. The Board is also authorized to sit in panels of at least three members under certain conditions.
A member continues to serve after the completion of his or her term until reappointed or until a successor has been appointed.
Due to the nature of the business conducted by this body, members are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests with the Board of Ethics.
