PURPOSE: Intended to govern the activities of the local professional baseball park district, the Board is a special purpose local governmental unit created to acquire, construct, equip, maintain, operate and manage a baseball park facility. This includes the authority to issue bonds and impose special sales and use taxes, and to adopt by-laws to govern the activities of the district.

COMPOSITION: Members of the board are appointed using a variety of methods from the various counties under the jurisdiction of the district. The City of Milwaukee has one member appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Common Council, who then serves at the pleasure of the Mayor. The chair is selected by the governor. The board elects its own vice-chair, secretary and treasurer.

CREATING AUTHORITY: Section 229.66(2)(g), Wis. Stats.

SALARY: Reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by the board members in performing their duties.
