PURPOSE: To carry out blight elimination, slum clearance and urban renewal programs and to foster and promote business expansion and job creation.
COMPOSITION: Seven City residents, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Common Council. Confirmation requires a four-fifths vote of the Common Council. One member must be a Common Council member; no more than two members may be officers of the City. Members serve five-year terms.
A member who is not a public offical continues to serve after the completion of his or her term until reappointed or until a successor has been appointed.
