Please review the proposed legislation for its impact on the City of Milwaukee and respond below by email ('Reply to All') as soon as possible. Please include the following information: Is this germane to the City of Milwaukee? YES Recommended position: SUPPORT Specific reason for this position: The District Attorney's Office and Election Commission management staff spend an enormous amount of time following-up on convicted felons (on probation or parole) who may have registered to vote or voted. Additionally, clerical staff spend hours and hours inactivating the registration status of these individuals (in the Statewide Voter Registration System) as well as sending follow-up letters advising them of same. This change is state statute would eliminate the aforementioned clerical work as well as the constant controversy surrounding this issue. I see little harm in this change. Estimated fiscal cost or revenue: $2,500 to print new voter registration cards. The information you provide will be helpful to the Judiciary and Legislation Committee in formulating the City's position. Thank you.
