Prospect Ave. July, 7, 2016 Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development Committee: Alderman James Bohl Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs Alderman Nicholas Kovac Alderman Khalif J. Rainey Alderman Russell W. Stamper Honorable Members: I respectfully object to the proposed development at 1550 N. Prospect Avenue and urge you to reject the change in zoning to the site. As a retired city of Milwaukee firefighter who’s chosen to live permanently in the town I was born in, I hope to enjoy a quality of life style along Prospect Avenue that to date has been very positive. There are three reasons that the proposed zoning change will have a negative impact on the neighborhood. First, the safety of residents and visitors will be compromised due to the excessive increase of motor vehicle traffic on an already congested thoroughfare, not to mention the difficult parking issue. Second, the development isn’t compatible in its size and scale for the lot size, which is a detraction for the historic Goll Mansion and an inconsideration for the neighboring residences up and down the street. Third, the value of protecting the unique characteristics of the neighborhood is a paramount concern to those who live, work and play here, and this proposed change skews it. As members of the Committee, after reviewing the new detailed planned development, I trust you can clearly see it doesn’t make sense to approve it for a multitude of reasons in line with the ordinances. Thank you for your consideration and thought on this matter. Barbara A. Duffy Barbara Duffy 1522 N. Prospect Ave., #1005 Milwaukee, WI 53202-6522
