The Wisconsin Fair Trade Coalition is a statewide collaboration of environmental, labor, consumer, family farms, religious, and other civil society groups founded in 1994 during the fight over the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). We are united in a common belief that international trade and investment are not ends unto themselves, but instead must be viewed as a means for achieving other societal goals including sustainable development, economic justice, human rights, healthy communities and a clean environment.

The rules which govern our global economy must reflect the views and needs of ordinary people on issues such as jobs, wages, the environment, human rights, food and consumer safety, access to essential services and public health.

In light of our commitment to responsible manufacturing, the Wisconsin Fair Trade Coalition supports Aldermen Tony Zielinski’s substitute ordinance relating to procurement of various items under Sections 310-17.

Respectfully submitted,

A. J. (Nino) Amato
