I'll follow up with you to ensure you received this correspondence and if Ald. Bauman would allow for this file to continue to be held until the results of the transportation study. During the Canal Street reconstruction project, Dave Scherzer at Sigma had approached us with a plan for landscaping in the area to be vacated to build on his efforts to demonstrate "green" principles and "green" building technology. This landscaping is adjacent to the Hank Aaron State Trail and would be expected to complement the trail. As the vacation process was stalled, we ended up issuing a permit to Sigma to allow the landscaping to be installed in the public way. To my knowledge, it has already been performed. As far as I know, this satisfied Sigma. I'm not aware if the other 2 property owners had any plans for the area proposed to be vacated. So, there doesn't appear to be any significant consequence, beyond a loss of tax revenue, of the land remaining as right-of-way. Furthermore, there have been proposals for various transit initiatives in the Valley. As such, it's probably makes sense to hold off on vacation until these transit studies are concluded. Dave Windsor
