Subject: Historic
Preservation Commission Nomination
Good Morning
Alderman James Bohl,
My name is
Marion Clendenen-Acosta. I have been nominated by Mayor Tom Barrett for
appointment to the Historic Preservation Commission.
I am a licensed architect with 23 years of experience in
corporate, higher education and healthcare. For a recent water
technology hub project, my responsibilities included research
and submittal to the National Park Service for Historic
Preservation Certification in addition to preparation of construction documents
and specifications in compliance with historic guidelines.
As a resident
of Milwaukee for the last 28 years, I’m a strong believer in community and have
given back in many ways including involvement with Habitat for Humanity, the
performing arts, and student mentoring.
I am also a
strong believer in cultural heritage and understand the importance of its
education and preservation.
Serving on
the Historic Preservation Commission would provide me the opportunity to meld
these three areas of interest; architecture, cultural heritage and community
service.
I will be
following up with a phone call to speak with you and answer any questions you
may have. I look forward to talking with you.
Thank you for your time.
